Description:

080A42 is a lower cost medium carbon steel, medium tensile hot rolled steel. Medium carbon steel is suitable for many processes ranging from forging to machining and galvanising, however welding is not recommended without more specialised processes. Thermal heat treatments are possible to improve wear resistance and hardness, however the material does not produce the same performance as higher carbon alloy steels within the PD970 standard.
