Fully automatic Sawing to length, and Plate shearing service: We operate mitre cutting and fully automatic sawing facilities capable of producing thousands of pieces every hour with capacities up to 14 metres in length.

What we do

Plate Shearing

Sheared blanks from 1.5 up to 12 mm thick: We can shear up to 2.5 metres in length using the variety of sheet materials we have in stock. These include: Hot rolled, Cold reduced, Durbar and Pre galvanised steels.

We are a Birmingham based Steel Stockholder and Processor fully certified with ISO9001 quality management systems. Our focus through customer relationships on product quality, reliability and short lead-times throughout the Midlands and beyond enables us to process and distribute in excess of 10,000 tonnes of material every year to all sectors of UK manufacturing. Our products include a huge range of hot rolled sections, cold formed structural steel tubes, plate and bespoke finished products with customer specific requirements.

Every piece of structural section we supply to our customer is fully test certificated and sourced from only approved mills of manufacture. These include global household names like Tata Steel and Arcelormittal but also less well known European and Turkish producers.

For the past 62 years our steel stockists have never sourced steel based on cost alone. All of our approved suppliers have a strong emphasis on product quality and reliability and share our own ethical values of Integrity, honesty, fairness and transparency.

We are always looking for ways to improve our high levels of customer service. We recently expanded our cutting capacity and further reduced customer lead-times by adding another fully automatic bandsaw with increased capacity and improved accuracy of cut through its oversize twin column design. This new investment was in response to our customers requiring ever closer processing tolerances and the next day delivery service required for just in time ordering.

Steel Processing to your exact specification – Cut to length, punched or fabricated

Our extra processing facilities offer you increased flexibility and reduced lead times and draw on the huge range of structural sections we keep on stock in the West Midlands. We supply directly to the UK manufacturing base which gives us the opportunity to work with some truly motivated and innovative companies from PLC’s creating construction and infrastructure projects to smaller engineers and fabricators.

Our range of processing capabilities, additional to our automated sawing lines include fabrication, drilling, tapping, punching, hydraulic bending, shearing and press braking. We can also finish or prepare your material by galvanising, electro-plating, powder coating and shot blasting.

All material sold by Harris Steels is: Fully certified, with traceability throughout processing back to the mill of manufacture and only sourced from certified socially responsible producers. A thorough inspection is conducted throughout processing and structural sections are CE certified and grade colour coded.
